Sierra Club Santa Cruz invites club members and climate activists to join our Climate Committee. Chaired by Magi Amma and focusing on more specific climate centered issues, both local and statewide, this is a relatively new committee. Our work over the past year has included sea-level rise, river and watershed health, post-CZU fire recovery, deforestation and utility vegetation clear-cutting, wildfire risk due to changing weather patterns, transportation and renewable energy issues, and contacting and meeting with our local and state government staff, representatives and legislators. If you’re concerned about climate issues, please come to a meeting to see what we do, or consider joining the committee to work directly with us. We meet by Zoom every third Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm and we welcome new members or guests. Email Magi at magi@hippocampus.com
