A judge ruled that the Trump administration violated the Endangered Species Act with a plan to allow more roads in Bitterroot National Forest. The government must now assess how this plan affects grizzlies and bull trout. Earthjustice sued the Trump administration, building on decades of work to protect these vulnerable species across the Northern Rockies. We are now urging the court to overturn the current road management plan for the Bitterroot while the administration completes the harm assessment. “This is a big win for grizzly bears. The court affirmed what we all know — roads are bad for grizzly bears and they need large areas of intact habitat if they are ever to reoccupy the Bitterroot Mountains,” said Adam Rissien, rewilding manager with WildEarth Guardians.
