Home gardens, small farms, and wildland-agricultural interfaces can often be areas of increased water, food, and habitat resources for wildlife. Many people are interested in seeing wildlife on their properties, from the common visitors to the elusive wanderers. Come learn about how to monitor for wildlife in your own backyard, as well as the ecology, habitat requirements, and challenges species face across dynamic landscapes. Homeless Garden Project: Sustain Supper, June 20, 4 - 7:30 pm
Join us on our beautiful farm or a 4-course farm-to-table dinner celebrating our work, sustaining our mission, and enjoying friends, community and talks from our Keynote Speaker and a trainee in our program. We'll also offer a farm tour, live music and delicious wine and local beverages. The Supper is cooked by exceptional chefs featuring organic produce grown in our programs. Keynote Speaker: Mai-Nadine Nguyen, a James Beard Award–winning farmer, policy strategist, and social justice activist whose work centers on building equitable, sustainable, and culturally rooted food systems. Eat For The Earth: A Healthy Heart, June 19, 6 – 8 pm
Retired lifestyle medicine doctor Steven Leib, MD, returns to our Plant-Powered Life series to review the latest evidence-based nutritional approaches for lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This will be a science-based, open-minded discussion intended to invite further exploration and learning. As climate change, coastal development, and habitat loss continue to impact our shorelines, communities around the world are finding new ways to adapt and protect both people and nature. Michael will share examples of how nature-based solutions—from wetlands and dunes to innovative approaches in policy and insurance—are helping build stronger, more resilient coastlines.
