Oregonian: Condor flies into Oregon for first time in over 120 years

A young California condor flew into Oregon last month, marking the first time in more than 120 years that one of the critically endangered birds has flown free in Oregon’s sky, according to the Yurok Tribe–led Northern California Condor Restoration Program. On May 12, a 2-year-old female condor known as B9 was tracked by a satellite transmitter attached to her right wing leaving Northern California’s Humboldt County. The bird went east toward Redding at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley. She then flew over the northern Trinity Alps and Marble Mountain Wilderness into southern Oregon, stopping 8 miles short of Medford.
