Ami Chen Mills: Forest Walk in the forest proposed for UCSC Expansion, Aug 22, 10:30 - 11:30 AM

UCSC’s plan to bulldoze the forest north of campus in order to build roads and buildings is the biggest threat to open space in Santa Cruz since Friends of the Pogonip successfully saved that beautiful place. UCSC plans to build a new entrance road to the campus from Empire Grade, and a new road across the top of the Great Meadow from the music recital hall to Coolidge Dr. Residents of Santa Cruz are also concerned about the impact of enrollment growth to 28,000 students (approx 50% increase) on traffic, water, and the price of housing. Come learn about this land! Meet at Baskin Engineering, across for Core West Parking.
