The Trump administration is displaying yet another overreach by sacrificing California coasts and oceans for private industry profits. He is attempting to cut funding and effectively dismantle California's Coastal Management Program (CMP), a program of the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972, meant to protect our coasts and marine life. This maneuver, via NOAA, will uproot this protective program to "give priority consideration to ... siting facilities related to national defense, energy, ports, and transportation."1 They are placing fossil fuels over humans, whales, sea lions, salmon, and all of our marine friends.
